Full Time Cook
Salary $76,000 to $80,000 plus Superannuation
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook a wide range of meals including meats, vegetables, sauces, and garnishes.
• Examine and assess quality of food ingredients prior to preparation.
• Regulate temperature of cooking equipment such as ovens, grills, deep-fat fryers, and griddles.
• Season food appropriately during cooking, ensuring consistent taste and presentation.
• Portion and plate food, applying finishing elements such as gravies and garnishes.
• Store food correctly in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations, using temperature-controlled facilities.
• Prepare meals tailored to customers’ special dietary requirements.
• Contribute to planning menus and estimating food and ingredient requirements.
• May assist in training junior kitchen staff or apprentices on preparation techniques and recipes.
• Ensure the kitchen maintains compliance with food safety, occupational health, and safety standards.
• Participate in ongoing development of seasonal or daily specials and menu innovation.
Requirements:
• Minimum 1 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a qualification in Hospitality/Cookery Management (or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene protocols.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
