Qualifications: • Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to wastewater treatment plant operations and procedures • Knowledge of the principles and practices of an effective mechanical, structural, and grounds preventive maintenance program and operations of internal combustion engines and electrical pump motors • Basic electrical knowledge involved in working on pumps, motors, and other equipment; equipment, tools, and materials used in maintaining and repairing wastewater treatment plant and related equipment • Demonstrated experience in safety principles and practices, and related state and federal laws and regulations Responsibilities: • Perform work on major and minor repair work and overhauls on plant's engines, motors, pumps, and related equipment • Schedules work to be done and determines type and quantities of materials needed for such work • Inspects buildings and equipment for needed maintenance and repair • Ensures the proper use and care of tools, materials, and safety equipment • Assures adherence to safety, cleanliness, and fire prevention rules and standards • Tunes up engines; sets valve clearances; and cleans and adjusts regulators, gas, and other controls and devices • Maintains and repairs pumps; replaces bearings, valves, seals, and controllers; builds pump mounts and brackets; does welding. • Maintains comprehensive log of all maintenance work done on equipment • Determines remedial action in emergency situations
