We're looking for a Director of Lifecycle Marketing to build, scale, and evolve how we engage millions of users across the full customer journey — from first touch through conversion, retention, and repeat engagement. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who has owned lifecycle end-to-end: strategy, systems, execution, and performance. You'll operate at the intersection of data, product, and marketing — designing systems that drive measurable revenue across channels including email, push notifications, SMS, and in-app messaging. You won't inherit a polished playbook. You'll build the strategy, establish the systems, and set the standard for how Bankrate engages its users at scale.
What You’ll Do:
- End-to-end journey design — Architect and optimize lifecycle programs across onboarding, engagement, monetization, and retention. Own everything from segmentation strategy and journey logic to channel selection (email, push, SMS, in-app) and performance readouts.
- Automation at scale — Build and evolve sophisticated, trigger-based workflows powered by behavioral data, real-time signals, and predictive inputs. Design systems that run reliably across millions of users without constant manual intervention.
- Creative & funnel strategy — Architect full-funnel messaging strategies aligned to customer journey stages. Partner with Creative on sprint-based testing — reducing cost-per-conversion through systematic iteration on copy, CTAs, and content — and serve as the cross-functional authority on lifecycle creative methodology.
- Revenue attribution and measurement rigor — Own how lifecycle impact is measured. Design and run lift studies, holdout tests, and incrementality models. Build forecasting models that project volume and efficiency at varying investment levels. Be the team's go-to on measurement methodology and statistical validity.
- Quarterly experimentation roadmap — Develop and maintain a prioritized testing roadmap across the full funnel. Institutionalize learnings to compound efficiency gains over time. Set the standard for experimental rigor — from hypothesis formation to result interpretation.
- AI-powered lifecycle workflows — Identify and prioritize high-value AI use cases across the lifecycle funnel — from personalization and send-time optimization to content generation and predictive segmentation. Lead structured pilots with defined success metrics. Build AI-assisted workflows the team can adopt and scale, and document decision criteria (quality, accuracy, risk trade-offs) for others to follow.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven lifecycle ownership — 7+ years owning lifecycle as a revenue-driving channel — not just executing campaigns, but building systems that scale across email, push, SMS, and in-app. Experience scaling programs to millions of users.
- Deep platform expertise (Iterable preferred) — You can design and build complex, multi-step journeys, dynamic segmentation, and event-driven triggers without relying on engineering for day-to-day execution.
- Measurement authority — You've designed and run lift studies, holdout tests, or MMM analyses. You can evaluate experiment results with statistical rigor, diagnose funnel drop-offs with precision, and translate complexity into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.
- Creative strategist — You understand the relationship between messaging, creative, and conversion. You can brief creative partners, run sprint-based testing cycles, and identify what's driving performance at the copy, format, and channel level.
- Operator and strategist — You can zoom out to define the annual roadmap and quarterly testing agenda, and zoom in to QA a journey or debug a trigger logic issue. You move fluidly between strategy and execution without losing momentum.
- Executive-level communicator — You lead business reviews confidently, influence without formal authority, and earn credibility by being consistently well-prepared and right.
- AI-forward practitioner — You actively use AI tools to accelerate your work and have a point of view on where AI creates real leverage in lifecycle — and where human judgment still matters.
