Supercell is a mobile game developer founded in 2010 in Helsinki, Finland by Ilkka Paananen and co-founders. The company is renowned for creating globally successful games including Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars, each generating billions in cumulative revenue and maintaining millions of daily active players worldwide. Majority-owned by Tencent since 2016 but operating as an independent studio with approximately 350 employees across offices in Helsinki and San Francisco. Supercell is distinguished by its flat organizational hierarchy, autonomous team structure, and willingness to shut down games that fail to meet engagement standards rather than prolonging underperforming projects. The company's sustained commercial success and longevity of its titles demonstrate the effectiveness of its player-first development philosophy.
