Backed by Bessemer Venture Partners

Perplexity is an artificial intelligence search engine that provides conversational, cited answers to user queries by combining large language models with real-time web search capabilities. Founded in 2022 by Aravind Srinivas, the company is headquartered in San Francisco and operates as a private venture-backed startup. Perplexity's approach differentiates itself from traditional search engines by returning structured answers with source citations rather than plain link lists, positioning it as a modern alternative to legacy search platforms. The company has grown rapidly through multiple significant funding rounds, establishing itself as a notable player in the emerging AI search market and attracting both consumer and enterprise users.
