Home Chef is a meal kit delivery service that provides customers with pre-portioned ingredients and recipes for home cooking. Founded in 2013 by Kurt Dammeier, the company is headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana. Home Chef was acquired by Kroger, the United States' largest grocer by revenue, in 2018, and now operates as a subsidiary of this major public retailer. The acquisition gave Home Chef access to Kroger's extensive supply chain, distribution network, and customer base. The service focuses on delivering fresh, quality ingredients and simplified recipes to home cooks. Unlike independent meal kit competitors, Home Chef leverages Kroger's established retail presence and logistics infrastructure, positioning itself as a convenient alternative to both traditional grocery shopping and standalone meal kit delivery services.
