Gymshark is a British athletic apparel company founded in 2012 by Steve Hewitt, who started the business at age 19 in his garage in Birmingham, England. The company designs and manufactures gym clothing and fitness wear sold primarily through direct-to-consumer channels, serving a global community of athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Gymshark listed on the London Stock Exchange in July 2020, establishing itself as one of the UK's fastest-growing consumer brands and a success story in the fitness apparel sector. Headquartered in Birmingham with offices and operations across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, the company has scaled from a garage startup to a multinational brand while maintaining its community-focused identity. Gymshark distinguishes itself through authentic engagement with the fitness community rather than traditional luxury branding, and continues to grow its product range and international presence.
