Cursor is an AI-native code editor founded in 2021 by Aman Sanger and Arvind Srinivas, based in San Francisco. Built on VSCode but reimagined for AI-assisted development, it delivers built-in AI capabilities like Cmd-K for code generation and inline editing to help developers write code faster and more efficiently. The product targets individual developers and teams looking to leverage AI without switching their development environment. Cursor has grown rapidly as a modern alternative to traditional editors, competing in the AI developer tools category alongside extensions and newer IDE approaches. The company remains focused on core developer experience and expanding its AI feature set to cover the entire software development lifecycle.
