About the Role MMD Construction is seeking an experienced Block Layer to carry out blockwork and masonry works on site in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and Irish construction standards. The successful candidate will ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Carry out all aspects of block laying and masonry works in accordance with project drawings and specifications. Read and interpret construction drawings to ensure works are completed accurately and to the required standards. Construct internal and external block walls, retaining walls, and other masonry elements as required. Set out work areas and maintain line, level, and plumb throughout construction activities. Ensure blockwork is completed to programme requirements while maintaining high-quality workmanship. Coordinate with Site Management and other trades to ensure smooth progress of works. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. Identify and report any issues relating to materials, drawings, or site conditions. Ensure compliance with Irish Building Regulations and company quality standards. Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures and site rules at all times. Qualifications & Experience Preferably 3 years' experience as a Block Layer on residential, commercial, or mixed-use construction projects. Proven experience in all aspects of blockwork and masonry construction. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and quality requirements. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on workmanship and project delivery. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider site team. Good communication and organisational skills. Knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and Construction Regulations.
