There is no option to work remotely. Salary: - $30.00 to $38.00 hourly (To be negotiated) /40.00 hours per week Terms of employment: - Permanent employment - Full time - Day (Based on projects, weekends may be available as well as overtime hours) - Starts as soon as possible Benefits: - Group insurance benefits: Available after 90 days, cost of benefits is split between employer and employee 50/50 - Safety allowance: Allowance of $100 dollars for every 2-years is provided Overview Languages - English Education - Secondary (high) school graduation certificate Experience - 3 years to less than 5 years Work site environment - Dusty Work setting - Commercial - Residential - Various locations Responsibilities Tasks: The Tile Installer will be responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing floor and wall tile systems in residential and/or commercial settings. Duties include: • Review project plans, specifications, measurements, layouts, and tile installation requirements with the employer, site contact, or customer before commencing work. • Prepare, measure, and mark surfaces to be covered, and determine tile layouts, patterns, cuts, and installation sequence. • Prepare rough plans, sketches, layouts, and material lists required for tile installation projects. • Remove existing flooring or tile, clean and prepare substrates, and complete surface preparation required for new tile installation. • Complete floor levelling, sand-and-cement dry pack work, mortar beds, underbeds, and related substrate preparation required to support tile installation. • Build and prepare custom shower tile systems, including waterproofing membranes, shower bases, underlayment, and tile-ready Schluter-style installation components. • Install tile-ready in-floor heating systems or mats as part of the tile installation assembly, with any required electrical connection or commissioning completed by qualified electrical personnel where applicable. • Mix, apply, and spread mortar, cement, mastic, glue, epoxy, or other adhesives using hand tools, trowels, and other tile-setting equipment. • Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to the base, ensuring proper bonding, spacing, alignment, slope, and finish. • Align and straighten tiles using levels, spacers, chalk lines, straight edges, laser lines, and other measuring tools. • Cut and fit tiles around obstacles, corners, fixtures, drains, edges, and openings using hand and power cutting tools. • Install a variety of floor and wall tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, mosaic, stone, marble, granite, and related tile materials, as required by the project. • Pack cement-based or epoxy grout into joints between tiles, remove excess grout, clean tile surfaces, and complete finishing and sealing as required. • Install tile strips, edge trims, transitions, profiles, anchors, brackets, or related accessories required for a complete tile installation. • Remove and replace cracked, damaged, loose, or defective tiles and complete tile repairs. • Lay and set mosaic tiles or decorative tile patterns for walls, floors, showers, backsplashes, and other finished surfaces. • Cut, surface, polish, and install marble, granite, or other stone tile materials where required. • Maintain work areas, tools, and materials in a clean and safe manner and follow applicable workplace health and safety procedures.
