The Role: Boekeman Machinery is seeking a versatile Motor Mechanic (General) to join their service department. This role is perfect for a mechanical professional who enjoys a broad scope of work, ranging from complex engine overhauls to the maintenance of steering, suspension, and hydraulic braking systems. You will provide essential workshop and field-service support, ensuring that our clients' tractors, headers, and sprayers are roadworthy, field-ready, and performing at peak efficiency. Key Responsibilities: • Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines and relevant agricultural vehicle components. • Service, repair, and replace faulty mechanical parts including transmissions, differential units, steering gear, and suspension systems. • Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, and steering mechanisms for repair or replacement. • Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure they meet manufacturer performance and safety standards. • Perform routine maintenance on high-horsepower tractors (200hp+), headers, and sprayers, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system flushes. • Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems (CCLS / PFC) and 12/24V auto-electrical systems. • Reassemble engines and parts after repair, ensuring all tolerances and clearances are met. • Conduct pre-delivery preparation and final safety inspections of new and used machinery. • Provide on-site field service to broadacre farmers, performing emergency repairs and diagnostics during critical seasons. • Maintain clean and accurate records of all work performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings. What We’re Looking For: • Trade Qualification: AQF Certificate III or IV in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or Agricultural Mechanical Technology (aligned with ANZSCO 321211). • Experience: Proven hands-on experience in the service and repair of motor vehicles or large agricultural machinery. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in using electronic diagnostic equipment to identify faults in mechanical and electronic systems. • Technical Preference: Direct experience with CNH (Case IH / New Holland) dealership systems is highly preferred. Experience with John Deere or AGCO is a strong secondary option. • Attributes: A "can-do" attitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in both a workshop and field environment.
